Back in the Real World

Oh to be back at work. At least it is nice to be busy again. The day goes by in a blur; however, I already feel as though I am falling behind on my tweets, facebooks, washpo and NYT updates, and gossip sites. I quickly feel uninformed.

The weekend trip west to Wetzel County was wonderful and relaxing. The weather was not hot, my folks’ house is GORGEOUS, and I think a good time was had by all. Kelly got to drive a four-wheeler for the first time and Bruce got to run free for two and a half whole days. He is still trying to catch up on sleep (as am I).

(Kelly taking in the view of Jacksonburg from the pool deck. Not a lot to see.)

As we are wont to do, we did it up big time Friday night and, since we are not rock stars, were pooped on Saturday night when my bro Dave, his wife Suzanne, and everyone else were there for the fireworks, so the Baltimore contingent took it easy while everyone else got a little silly. Kelly slept in front of the fire for hours Saturday night while Aunt Tammy bullied people in to playing music (which she then did not listen to as she was too busy playing host) and general bullshit reached epic levels.

(Kelly became a pillow for the exhausted (and ash-covered) Max and Bruce)

As usual, Uncle Mark pulled out all the stops with the fireworks and each year, it seems, more men bring their own to add to the collection. Dave and Kirk added their own explosives, and Ryan has decided that he needs to up his man-game by bringing some next year as well. Can't wait!

This weekend was brought to you by Yuengling, which - best news ever for the mountain state - is now sold in West Virginia!
