Drats! Foiled Again

I had to run down to Canton to take some pictures for a project we are working on near the new Brewer's Hill development on Boston Street. I was so excited because there is a Panera Bread there and I was all like SCORE! Yummy, healthy lunch in the sun, catching up on the City Paper.

So I took my photos, and stood in the excessively long lunch line at Panera. Made my order, laboring extensively over exactly which bread I wanted for my ham and swiss sandwich (sesame), laboring of which side I wanted (baguette), and reached into my purse to pay. And then the thing happened. The embarrassing, heart wrenching, stomach growling thing. My wallet was not in my purse! And in a flood of hungry agony I remembered that it was sitting on the desk in Ryan’s office, where I had left it last night after booking our Mexico vacation. My face must have just collapsed in disappointment, because the wonderful cashier at Panera Bread took pity on me and said, "Here, at least have a free coke." Angel of mercy, that cashier.

I had to come back to the office and eat Chef Boyardee because that is all I had. Sigh.
