So it has been a while since I’ve updated the blog. Gotten busy with work, and life, and prepping for Christmas, and have not devoted many minutes to filling the internet ether with my musings.
Rusty, otherwise known as Bruce, or Brucey (don’t ask), continues to flourish, and is growing like a weed. I never imagined owning a dog in the city would be this easy. He is just a really good dog, and we got lucky. We try to be good owners, and we are trying to train him well, but truthfully, the dog is doing the lion’s share of the work. He is friendly, mellow – just a little excited when people come in, but quickly calms down – and eager to learn and listen.
Yesterday afternoon, I worked from home because Ryan was out of town for the day, and got to experience firsthand what Ryan gets to do every day. It is pretty nice to have a dog snoozing on your feet while you sit at the computer. He was calm, and minded his own business while I was working, or cleaning. Coming back to the office this morning I missed his smelly butt.
Speaking of smelly butts --- we have started mixing a little high-quality dry food into Rusty’s diet. He is eating so much right now, he needs more food at this stage of his growth than he will as an adult, he’s eating us out of house and home. We really just cannot afford to feed him an all-raw diet right now. So I got a no-grain kibble from Chow Baby, and we’re feeding him that as well as the raw. When he’s full grown, I would like to switch back to raw again, because I DO see a difference in him on a raw diet. Mostly in the smells department. That dude only occasionally let one rip on raw food. Now he is a stinky, smelly methane machine, it is overpowering I tell you! But this whole bad economy is impacting all of our palates – we’re not eating out very often at all, and Rusty has to eat normal dog food... oh well.
I have some pix to post, and will try to get them up soon to see how much he has grown!
Now, back to work!!
